In 1950, Jarl Hansen was becoming increasingly interested in his instruments sound and string quality. As a cellist in the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra, he wanted to deliver the best sound possible, so he started to experiment with string creation in his spare time. After years of testing, Hasen discovered a revolutionary string style with incredible sound and decided to start his own company, Jagar Strings.

What Jarl Hansen created was a steel core-based string, wound with thin threads of pure or alloyed metal. These handmade strings were uniquely responsive and created a warm and brilliant tone with greater stability and durability. These characteristics quickly made Jager Strings one of the most popular strings in the classical music world.
